Cinematic Titan Slums in Blogosphere
Christian Palmer
BIOGRAPHY
When he's not rehearsing the hottest new dance moves or having his corn rows tightened, bastard factory and occasional Land's End model Christian "Destroyer" Palmer makes incredible films.
Christian's filmmaking career began in 1983, when, at the age of 9, he shot his first movie. This film (a shameless Jaws rip-off shot on Super 8) bulldozed the mid-1980's independent film scene, dropping jaws and panties all over the world. When the Hollywood carpet-baggers inevitably came to call, the 9 year-old auteur was immediately seduced by the dark side of the film business. An addiction to airplane glue took hold, fueled by Christian’s growing fascination with fundamentalist Scientology. His downhill slide hit an abrupt bottom, when, in November 1988, Christian awoke to find himself in a trashed suite at the Beverly Hills Hotel with Dana Plato digging through his pockets for cab fare. This was rock bottom. He had finally had enough.
After a quick spin-dry through rehab in Palm Springs, Christian returned home to complete his education. At the age of 17, he finished high school in a state ranked #48 in public education, then promptly flunked out of community college. Soon after, he relocated to Seattle.
Christian has worked in post-production since 1998. He has contributed an effort to damn near every independent movie shot in Seattle, as well as hundreds of hours of film and television for the major studios. He has written, directed, and edited seven short films. A DVD compilation of his 16mm work, entitled Your Fucked Without ME: 4 by DESTROYER has been foisted upon several individuals.
Christian is currently busting ass to finish three new short films (including one commissioned by The Film Company) in advance of the February 1st SIFF entry deadline. He is excited to serve as a regular contributor, providing a take on the festival from a filmmaker’s perspective.
