Karla's Bio

Karla Esquivel

When I'm not on deadline or frolicking in the sun, you can usually find me watching a movie. I have been watching and writing about film for nearly ten years now. I got my start at "The Weekly Alibi" in Albuqurque, NM and moved on to different publications including the "Santa Fe New Mexican," "The Albuqurque Journal," and "indieWIRE.com." I have been acting as Tablet's Arts Editor for three years now. What can I say? It's a great gig. I get to see as many films as my brain can handle and get to experience the wonders of SIFF. Seattle is a great movie town because there is an amazing tight-knit filmmaking community as well as a lofty group of super knowledgeable film buffs. I am drawn to film because I love unique narratives悠 also like getting lost in a world that doesn't belong to me.
