Tonnvane Wiswell bio

Tonnvane Wiswell

I've been writing for Tablet for over two years now, after taking a long, long break from the entertainment beat. I saw more than a movie a week last year - not much compared to some hard core SIFFers, but still a lot more than the average bear. I work hard to see silent movie revivals, films shown in series (so you can soak up a director's style), and silly Hong Kong action flicks. At SIFF this year my focus is mostly on Asian films - even with that kind of limitation it will be hard to narrow down the list!

Hey, maybe our paths have crossed! I made it a point to attend every silent movie monday for the first three or four years - Dennis James went to college in my hometown, and I recall attending films he played when I was a kid. I believe I like silents more than I do contemporary cinema.

Hah! Yes, I think our paths probably do cross from tiem to time. Did you make it to see "Goddess?" I noticed no one has written it up yet ...
