Faithful reader Emily emails:
"Hello,
Random question for you. I was also at the festival last night and really enjoyed the film and the gala. My question is: are all the galas as amazing as that one was? Or are they much smaller? What are they like?
Thanks for your time!"
As a non-attendee, I cannot answer this. But those of you who did, won't you please weigh in in the comments?

The other galas are usually a little smaller, but I think that some of the time they're better, too. Less of a mad rush for food (last year's Dick's-catered Strangers With Candy is a notable exception on the food front) and a little easier to bump into SIFF staffers and special guests. But also, maybe less likelihood of a big dance party...
I am pretty sure the Saturday night movie galas will not be as grand as the Opening Night. That said, I have never actually been to anything but the opening night - so I could be wrong!
I will say that I've now attended 4 opening night galas, and this was the fanciest one I've ever been to.
