First SIFF gossip!

Before "The Holy Girl" screening today, Steve Smith was being followed around by a camera crew. Steve Smith is a longtime SIFFer, who I got to know during my Rocket magazine days when we hosted the midnighters; Steve was always around, entering the contests, etc. He also snaps pix of everyone, and provides you with copies later, so that's great too. And he makes SIFF-related badges (buttons). And he's just an all around fun guy to hang out with.

So, it turns out "Evening Magazine" is filming him for their show, presumably something like "SIFF's biggest fan." I asked how he was chosen and he said the SIFF office recommended him. He added the segment would air sometime during SIFF, "so I won't be able to see it!" (so set that VCR, Steve!). He told me to be sure to catch him on Opening Night, the crew will be following him then too. Wow. Steve's shaved his head this year, and sports a longish goatee, FYI.
