Blotto Darko
Kristopher Monroe
I had to wait for my hangover to subside in order to write this. I think I'm okay now.
The Donnie Darko after party at ConWorks was very much what it should've been--dark, drunken and delicious. My goal of imbibing as many drinks as possible was probably taken to its physical limit, but much fun was had indeed. The crowd was muy attractive and everyone seemed up for some sort of conversation or other (imagine that!). I talked with quite a few people who I can't entirely remember now.
I was introduced to a director by Gillian (damn, what did he direct?) and we talked briefly about a few of the artworks on exhibit at the gallery and about the nature of conceptual art. Ah! Heady conversation and alchohol go great together! Also talked with Luella (sp?) with CHAC about some of the things going on there and Grant Cogswell and his director told me about their new film project based on an H.P. Lovecraft story. Apparently they got one of the guys from Blood Brothers to star in it. They handed me the script, but I haven't read it yet. Sorry. Shit. Is this proprietary information? I hope not.
Most importantly, the party was fantastic. It didn't disappoint. Everyone was drinking and socializing. Especially those cute SIFF publicists. Karla never introduced me to Jena Malone like she said, but that's probably for the better. By the end of the night, some people were even dancing (imagine that!). Afterward, a few of us went to the Lobo to ingest one last drink and then repaired back to my house for a 'nightcap.' This is where my memory becomes hazy. I don't actually know what happened after that, but apparently nothing horrible. The party was great, the people were great and I'll leave it at that.
Shit. Is anyone even reading this?
